Vic: Crown unhappy with Lyric deal

MELBOURNE, Feb 20 AAP - Crown Casino was "far from happy" with a deal struck with theVictorian government which freed it from an obligation to build the Lyric Theatre, a companyspokesman said today.

Victorian Major Projects Minister John Pandazopoulos today announced Crown would pay$18 million in return for not having to build the theatre.

The money, to be paid over five years, will go towards a $61 million arts developmentat Melbourne's Southbank precinct which will include a 1,000-seat recital hall named afterDame Elisabeth Murdoch.

The deal also ensures Crown avoids a $50,000 per day …
