Qld: Man survives cliff fall in car
BRISBANE, Aug 31 AAP - A man is seriously ill in Royal Brisbane Hospital after sufferinglife threatening injuries when his utility plunged over a 20-metre cliff in Brisbane today.
Police said the man, aged 73, was driving a Toyota Hilux utility along Bowen Terraceat New Farm about 10.25am (AEST) when it left the road, crashed through a fence and fellabout 20 metres into the former Brisbane water police grounds.
Fire officers had to use cutting equipment to free the man from the wreckage of theutility which landed upside down on some temporary safety fencing.
The man was travelling alone in the utility and police have asked witnesses to theaccident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
