NSW: Paddy Bergin appointed Supreme Court judge
The barrister who relentlessly pursued paedophiles and incompetent officials at the Wood
Royal Commission has been named as New South Wales' next Supreme Court judge.
PATRICIA "PADDY" BERGIN will take up her position on March 1.
She rose to prominence acting as counsel assisting the Wood Royal Commission's
investigations into paedophilia.
During the investigations, she confronted alleged paedophiles with evidence of their crimes
in the witness box.
She also forced high-ranking police, church and government officials who hadn't properly
investigated child abuse to admit their errors and ensure safeguards were put in place.
Ms BERGIN was admitted as a barrister in 1984.
